MIAD’s relationships with the Illinois High School Art Exhibition has been phenomenal. IHSAE facilitates meaningful connections for us — through exhibitions of student work, on-campus trips, mature discourse about creative education, and more. The program is an anchor for our recruitment and relationship-building throughout Illinois.
— David Sigman, Director of Admissions, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design

Connect with students

As a sponsor, the IHSAE provides you digital and in-person access to students, parents and teachers.  Connect with participating students and teachers via email, social media, and your IHSAE web presence, then make your presence felt at our Visual Art Fest on February 25, 2018 which consists of two major exhibitions of student artwork, a college fair, and a vendor and career expo.

Key Details:

  • The College Fair gives art schools, colleges or universities the opportunity to connect with students, teachers, and parents. Use our student and teacher contact lists to plan school visits and setup face-to-face conversations.

  • The General Exhibition will showcase over 500 artworks from more than 110 high schools in Illinois at the Zhou B. Art Center.

  • The Senior Scholarship Exhibition will feature over 300 students’ artworks at the Bridgeport Art Center, honoring those students whose portfolios have earned them tuition scholarship offers from art schools, colleges, and universities.

All events take place in Chicago on Sunday, February 25th

How Does It Work

How Does It Work

PC1.JPG
There are many great stories that come from IHSAE; however, the most significant is the ongoing story of the relationships I’ve forged with educators, students and families. It is inspiring and gratifying to see the artistic and professional growth of the students who I see return year-after-year for the opportunity to professionally showcase their work, and vie for scholarship opportunities to SCAD, which will help forge a path to creative careers.
— Maurice Smith, Assistant Director of Admission, Savannah College of Art and Design

How does it work?

1. Start Looking

Upon registration you will receive a SlideRoom account with instruction on how to access student portfolios (Senior Exhibition), artwork submissions by school (General Exhibition), and Student / Teacher Data.* Use this digital portfolio to find students for your school, set up portfolio reviews, school visits, you name it!

2. Stay Connected

Watch your inbox for updates from us on dates, schedules, etc. If you think you missed something, check our newsletter archive here. (Luke, insert link to a college newsletter archive / sign up page, like the one that currently exists).

3. Make your Offers!

Seniors

Seniors will submit their portfolios by January 1. Students are strongly encouraged to submit by the priority deadline of November 15th. Find the students for your school, then contact both the students and IHSAE about your elections

Grades 9-11

If your institution offers Early College Program or Summer Intensives, etc., consider offering a scholarship to students in our General Exhibition. We’ve found these programs are a great way to get targeted students committed to attending your school. Student selection takes place in-person on the day prior to the big event (02/24/17), but you can also send a list of names to an IHSAE representative if you can’t make it.

4. Show Up for the Big Event!

Come ready to promote your program at our College Fair and be a part of an incredible day of visual art! Last year we had over 3500 people in attendance. New this year, our college fair will last all day in one location (Bridgeport Art Center).

Your representative will be recognized at the Senior Scholarship Exhibition and also has the option of presenting awards if you are awarding Early College Program scholarships to students at our General Exhibition.
